Harmonise: an autumnal yoga retreat

Nowadays, terms like “Self-care”, “Mindfulness” and “Hygge” have become commonplace in our modern culture as people yearn for simpler times. This nostalgia is a wonderful catalyst for positive change as it draws our focus away from glamorising “busyness” (and potentially burnout) to a presence that will cultivate healthy longevity. However, how do we embody this? Furthermore, how do we move between seasons? So much emphasis is placed on the height of these phases: from basking in the warmth of the summer sun or stiffening against the harshness of the winter freeze. How would it feel to prepare for the season ahead during the transitional period and celebrate it’s energetic shift? Hence, preventing physical or mental illness associated with the change?

Our autumnal retreat will be a unique offering to prepare ourselves for the challenges and hibernation of the darker months. A blessed time for rest, recuperation and inner knowing. Drawing on elements of TCM, Ayurvedic Practices and the healing power of nature, we will spend time nourishing our bodies, supporting our immune systems and learning seasonal self care techniques. You will be encouraged to slow down and create some much needed space away from the demands of daily life.

what to expect

With arrival from 4pm on Friday, our weekend will commence with an opening ceremony before a light dinner.

Each morning will start a self serve breakfast and coffee, followed by our yoga workshops.

On Saturday afternoon, Lena will lead a nature meander within the spectacular 60 acres of ground surrounding The Comb. With a qualification in foraging, there may be some tasty late autumn treasures awaiting to be picked! There will be discussion seasonal eating and TCM.

On Sunday, we will delve deeper by exploring methods of self-care for autumn and winter by: demonstrating the ancient art and science of cupping; self massage methods; and Aromatherapy.

Each evening will end with a blissful restorative practice to send you into deep and rejuvenating sleep.

The retreat is set in the heart of the Northumberland Dark Sky Park making our location exemplary for star gazing. Weather dependent, we intend to take advantage of this one evening in front of an outdoor open fire. Under the canopy of the cosmos, there will also be the option of an evening meditation or a gentle Qi Gong practice.

The weekend will close at 2pm on Sunday.
